Taylor Mitchell | Jumpflex Athlete

Taylor Mitchell age 13, joined the Jumpflex family as a young Kart driver.  The Hamilton based athlete began his racing career at age 6, when Mum and Dad brought him his first go kart, a Cadet Raket.

Taylor was destined for Motorsport, to be behind the wheel of something with both his Father and Grandfather heavily involved in New Zealand Motorsport.

When Taylor turned 9, he stepped up into the highly competitive Mini Rok class, which was not only a step up in engine type and size, but also in chassis size. Taylor then made another leap up in kart, moving up ito the Junior Rotax class in early 2021.

While this has been another steep learning curve, racing against much older kids. He has adapted well, successfully competing for podium positions in Hamilton, Tokoroa and New Plymouth.

Time behind the wheel is important for any driver, and with COVID-19 track time has been limited. Taylor has been using his MRX race simulator to hone his race skills which has helped him to stay sharp, and work on his craft.

When not behind the wheel Taylor also competes in Football and Basketball competitions and spends time on his Jumpflex trampoline working on his fitness and coordination skills.

  • 2020 - 2nd overall in the NZ V8 Super lites e-series

  • 2021 - Voted the 'Drivers Driver'

  • 2021 - Hamilton Round 3 point series. Rotax Junior, Heat 3, P1

  • 2021 - Taranaki Winter Series Round 1, Rotax Junior, Heat 2, P1

  • 2021- Taranaki Winter Series Round 1, Rotax Junior, GP, P1
